Airlink expands horizons with South Africa’s first Embraer E195-E2
South Africa has officially welcomed its first Embraer E195-E2, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation sector. The next-generation aircraft was delivered to Airlink, the nation’s largest privately-owned regional airline, and is set to enhance the airline’s fleet with modern technology and increased capacity.
Airlink’s fleet expansion strategy
As part of a lease agreement with Azorra, Airlink will receive a total of 10 E195-E2 aircraft between late 2025 and 2027. The first aircraft, registered ZS-ARF, will soon enter service, offering passengers an upgraded travel experience.
The E195-E2 is designed for efficiency and comfort, accommodating up to 136 passengers in a single-class configuration — a step up from the current E195s, which seat 107 in a two-class layout. Its advanced technology and fuel efficiency align with Airlink’s commitment to sustainable and reliable regional air travel.
This fleet expansion will allow Airlink to strengthen connectivity across sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring smoother operations and improved service for its growing passenger base.
